Life lessons learned at the gym…

Dear Fat Server,

While busting my ass (literally) on the ever-so-wonderful butt blaster today, I couldn’t help but notice this elderly man behind me on the elliptical. He had to have been at least in his 80’s, possibly 90’s. He wasn’t going very fast, but he was THERE. He was DOING it. It made me think about so many of us with young, healthy bodies, that we continually abuse and consistently make excuses for. No more excuses. If he can do it, so can I, so can you.

Dear Fat Server,
Get PUMPED… cuz today is the infamous LEG day! Hello squats, lunges and everything else that is absolutely unbearable about this day! Today is the day we set ourselves up for excruciating pain with every step we take and every stair we battle for at least the next 4 days. But hey! It’s worth it! No more cellulite, no more giggly thighs, no more chubby calves! It may be the hardest day but could very possibly be the most important! Squat with me bitches! See you at the gym ;)

Anonymous asked: Hey i really love your blog and i wanted to ask you if you can help me: i really like dairy products (especially milk&yoghurt) but i know they have a lot of fat. But i read diffrent thoughts about skimmed milk etc. So is it better if i eat/drink skimmed milk products? xxx

I suggest you try some different things. For example, if you love your cereal in the morning, try it with almond milk instead. That’s what I use almost on a daily basis. Give the regular a try, or maybe the vanilla. For me, (to save calories) I use the unsweetened. It’s only about 35 calories per serving and I usually only need 1/2 of a serving. Not only is almond milk better for you but its a lot less calories too!

In terms of yogurt I am an Chobani fanatic! They all taste amazing and many of them come in 0% or 2% fat.

Always remember too much of anything isn’t healthy. So use moderation when it comes to dairy. Especially cheese! But never completely devoid yourself of some of your favorite foods, because sooner or later you will breakdown, and possibly even binge! So if you’ve had a healthy eating week but your really craving some milk or cheese, have some! Just learn to not over do it. Eventually you’re body will learn to be satisfied with lighter portions!

Hope you find my info helpful! And remember to NEVER give up!

Anonymous asked: ok so I'm really fat, like REALLY fat. I want to change, I'm sick of it but I find it really hard to find an exercise I like. Even as a child I was never the sporty type. I have an exercise bike but I don't know how long I should go on it to start with/how intense I should work out? I always seem to go too hard to the point where I CAN'T exercise the next day and then I fall out of routine very easily. Suggestions?

The best advise I can give you is listen to your body! Your body is telling you to SLOW DOWN. No one runs a 6 minute mile without practice and dedication. Same goes for you. Your body isn’t going to be capable of going on the bike at a high intensity right off the bat. Try starting off with making a small daily goal, like using your exercise bike for at least 10 minutes a day at a low intensity. Then the next week go up one intensity and bike for 15 minutes. Before you know it you’ll be biking away at a high intensity for an hour! You need to realize that no matter what you need to be sore. That’s your body’s way of telling you it’s working. But there is a difference between being sore and being so sore its crippling. That’s why you want to take it slow, so you can keep going the next day. Make the decision to dedicate yourself no matter what!

Also make sure you are stretching before AND after each workout and drinking plenty of water. That along with some ibuprofen should help with the soreness.

Finally, make sure what you’re putting into your body isn’t counterproductive to your weight loss goals. Eat lean protein, lots of fruits and veggies and stay away from food with too much SCF:

  • SUGAR
  • CARBS
  • FAT

Hope that helps Anon! Never give up!

christina-katniss asked: Hey, your blog is really helpful, thank you! I am trying to lose weight but i have such a problem with binge eating. It's awful, i just can't stop. Do you have any ideas to help me? xoxo

First of all, you need to determine what triggers you to binge eat: stress, boredom, etc. Then you need to find ways to change your behavior so that you don’t trigger a binge. For example, if you tend to binge when your sitting on the couch watching TV, choose to spend time with friends or family instead, or even better go work out! It’s all about morphing your behaviors. And it’s not going to be easy. It’s going to be a difficult adjustment and one that WILL take time. But I promise you, it will be so worth it in the end!!

Stay strong!!
